1906～1929

Qin XuanFu was born Qin Shanjun, Xuanfu is his nickname. He was born in 1906 in Changwu county, Guanxi Province, China. His father Qin Enshu was the mayor of Changwu County, his mother was Qin Enshu’s second wife.

1915-1924

Mr. Qin was lucky to have good education when he was young that laid a solid foundation for his life long career as scholar in art history and art education.  He finished his primary education in a new style school where he applied cutting edge technologies in education. He then went to First Middle School in Shang Dong, and the NanKai High School in Tianjing, where he was taught by a group of the most prestigious educators at the time, such as Yu Jianhua, Zhang Boling, and Yan Zhikai. Many classes there were conducted in English.

1924-1929

In 1924, he was admitted by QingHua University as a first year class student after QingHua transformed from a private school to a university.   At QingHua University, he was influenced by group of famous professors in both eastern and western culture , such as  Liang Qichao, Wang Guowei, Chen Yiange, and Zhao Yuanren, and Professor Wendon.  Mr. Qin also learned two foreign languages: English and French at Qin Hua University.
